Haryana Agricultural University was founded in 1970 and was named Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, in 1991.
The University is situated in Hisar, one of the important towns of modern Haryana. In ancient time Hisar was the centre of Harrapan Culture .Hisar, derived from Arabic, means FORT. Hisar, 164 kms away from National Capital New Delhi, situates on National Highway 10.
It has a very large campus and has several research centres throughout the state. It won the Indian Council of Agricultural Research's Award for the Best Institute in 1997.
CCS HAU has well equipped laboratories in each area of learning. Modern facilities like DNA Sequencer, UV-trans illuminator, PCR, FT-IR, Gene Gun, Gene Pulser, Electron Microscope, Submarine Electrophoresis Units, etc. are available too.
The University offers Undergraduate, B Sc (Hons) / B Tech / B V Sc & AH and Postgraduate programs, M Sc, MBA, M Tech and M V Science in most of its faculty departments.
